An Otolith School
From the beginning,
Otolith
Education co-founders have dreamed of
operating a school dedicated to the social, emotional, intellectual,
physical, and ecological connectivity of each member. We know
from our experience that the Balance Education model we are unveiling
will serve this purpose and meet the specific needs of todays young
people. Furthermore, it will prepare them to lead more joyful,
connected, meaningful lives to meet the unique challenges of the 21st
century with creative, sustainable, and peaceful problem-solving
strategies.
The Otolith Education school experience will be nothing less than a rigorous integrated curriculum and an authentic, meaningful adventure in life that will ignite a student’s natural curiosity and wonder for learning and position students to be highly effective members of any community. This design will prepare students to deal with future challenges in a sustainable manner and allow them to develop fully as individuals so that they can unite and engage in efficient and effective ways to bring about social, political, economic, and technological shifts. Balance Education students are our future leaders, local and beyond.
Our long-term vision is to be a licensed and accredited K-12 school, granting students a high school diploma upon graduation. At the moment, we are primarily focusing on establishing a grade 5-12 model.
Five key points to keep in mind:
- We are focused on meeting human needs -- not in highlighting distinctions between private or public education, at-risk or advanced placement. Simply put, we are for youth who want to thrive.
- We aim to collaborate with the community and schools by providing a type of education that is more likely to meet needs of some students.
- We want to provide equal access to our school for every youth.
- We prepare for success. Our school structure, professional faculty, academic rigor, and breadth of experiences will prepare students for college, work, family, health, happiness, and beyond.
- We are academic. Academic topics are more meaningful and accessible when learners are stimulated and engaged.
